Monica Bielanko was born and raised in the heart of Mormon country in Provo, Utah. She escaped as soon as possible and hustled her way into a career in journalism in Salt Lake City where she wrote and produced local news for Fox. She went to a gig after work one night and met her future husband, a scrappy city boy from Philadelphia. They married within weeks and moved to Brooklyn, New York where Monica continued her career writing and producing for Fox News and later ABC News. Monica’s writing has appeared in The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, Mom.me, Babble, Yahoo!, YourTango and Quiet Revolution. Since 2005, she has also written regularly on her personal website The Girl Who, which chronicles the decade of her marriage and subsequent divorce.
